As we approach the end of another month I have a confession to make.
I’m OVER budget.
Yup, you read that properly… the money coach is over budget.
Why? Because I’m human, I make mistakes and life happens.
When I work with my clients I truly try to help them understand that a budget is flexible, it has to be. Life happens, things change, and prices go up and down. If you try to stick to the same budget month after month you are going to go batty. This is why learning to pay attention and tracking your expenses can be such a great financial tool.
This month I had a few categories that had me over my budget.
- My main budget drainer was our new puppy. Yes he is cute but he is not that bright and eats a ton of food! So boom…there goes another $95 in dog food & $140 for puppy lessons.
- The second life sucker was groceries. We have all seen the cauliflower jokes going around the internet, the prices of groceries has gone up so my spending did as well.
- Picked up a dinner tab. We also had an unexpected dinner out that we picked up the tab for. Ooops.
Now am I upset about it? Am I stressing about where the money will come from?
From my own training and understanding of the money coaching process I am able to take a step back, re-evaluate, re-design, re-plan for next month and realize that there is always more money!
